Another successful appeal in the NSW Land and Environment Court
Project: Symcorp v Leichhardt Council - 728 Darling Street, Rozelle
Dickson Rothschild was engaged by the owner of the former Rozelle Theatre to design an adaptive refurbishment and partial redevelopment of the existing, three storey building. Located on Darling Street, in the heart of Rozelle's retail precinct, the building was originally constructed in the 1930s. The original Theatre use was discontinued a number of years ago and, as a result, the site has been underutilised for some time.
In collaboration with Maddocks Lawyers, Dickson Rothschild recently gained planning approval from the NSW Land and Environment Court for the site's adaptive reuse. The approved development will see the establishment of an active retail ground floor frontage to Darling Street. Commercial office space will be located behind the retail frontage at both mezzanine and first floors. For the upper levels, twelve (12) residential apartments are to be constructed and will include generous private balcony and terrace areas, a common landscaping area to the rear of the site, and designated parking at a basement level.
